Flesh Tearers? I like that.

The very first army I collected when I started the first time back in 2nd edition was Blood Angels. Back then there was nothing to distinguish them from Ultramarines other than colours. Anyway I digress.

I decided I would paint these up as Flesh Tearers, I figured it was a bit different from bright red so without further ado a quickie that I painted up as a test. It's very sloppy I hand undercoated it over that bad paintjob and just blasted it out pretty quick.

As I said, very sloppy, I haven't finished it, bit it gives me the general idea of the colour scheme other than in a book. Also I magnetised the Jump-pack so I can stick a normal backpack on.

I do like the scheme though.

Wow that looks good.

P.S this will count as my weekly update since I am buggering off to Edinburgh :)

Pineapple out.

Bit an Pieces

The spare parts I ordered arrived, although I am starting the wonder about the usefulness of having a power sword in with a bunch of normal attacks all on the same initiative, I am pretty sure I have a spare Bolt Pistol I can use instead.
Also I completely forgot I ordered a Plasma Cannon as well, the postage was going to cost as much as the sword and base so I got the cannon to make it more worthwhile.
I got them from Bit and Kits, a handy little site for odds and sods (I got my commanders bits from there) I got a pack of flying bases for the Landspeeders and 10 Jumps packs from the Games Workshop site, free postage for orders over £10 :)

I dug out an old Apothecary figure from the last time I played 40k, I was about 12 I think so the paint job is almost as bad as the rest of em, still, I can run him as a Sanguinary Priest which is a nice FNP bubble.

AI have the first batch of figures soaking away in disinfectant ready to strip, I think I'll start the scrubbing on Monday.

And now to finish with a question.
What paint scheme to go for with my commander. Do I stick with Red or try for the Gold scheme from the likes of Dante and Tycho?

For the glory of the Emperor!

The badly painted boys took on my cousins Tau Yesterday 1000 pts a side. I went into this fight confident in my 100% victory streak against him with all 3 of my armies. Anyways lets have a crack at the nitty gritty.

This is all from what I can remember.

Tau.

1 Commander type in battlesuit - Missile Pods, Fusion Blaster, Cyclic Ion Cannon.
6 man Stealth suit team - 2 Fusion Blaster, 4 Burst Cannon
30 odd Kroot + Hounds with Shaper
6 Pathfinders - 3 Rail rifles, 3 Carbines
20 Firewarriors
20 Firewarriors
5 Vespids + Strain Leader
1 Hammerhead.

Blood Angels.

Captain - Thunder Hammer + Jump Pack
5 Terminators - Cyclone Missile Launcher
1 Sanguinary Priest
10 man Tactical Squad - Heavy Bolter, Flamer, Plasma Pistol.
10 man Assault Squad - Infernus Pistol, Plasma Pistol, Meltagun, Power Sword.
5 man Devastator Squad - 4 Missile Launchers.

Since we were both rusty we decided to go for Standard Deploy + Annihilation. Si won the roll off and elected to go first.

From left to right start with Tau (top) Pathfinder squad, Kroot squad, Hammerhead, Fire warriors, Fire Warriors.

Blood Angels, Combat squad (Flamer, Plasma Pistol), Priest, Combat squad (Heavy Bolter) Devastator squad.

Si held the Stealth Team and Battle suit in reserve, I held my Assault squad with the Captain attached in reserve.

Turn 1.
Tau.

Nothing moved at all so he went straight to the shooting, that's what Tau do right? The Fire Warriors on the right opened up on the Devastator squad with a patter of 5 shots thanks to the building blocking LOS. One of them came close to hitting, kind of.
The 2nd Fire warrior squad opened up with their full complement of 20 guns in an attempt to cut down the Heavy Bolter team, quiet a few hit, several wounds were caused and a few saves were failed, Hello Mr Priest, thanks for the feel no pain, the squad emerged unscathed.
The Hammerheads turret swung menacingly towards the Squad with Flamer and unleashed its sub-munitions and scored a direct hit on all 5 of them. Some nice rolling resulted in 5 wounds,All 5 saving throws were made without even breaking a sweat.
All in all an ineffective round for the Tau.

Blood Angels.

My turn.
The squad with Flamer legged it towards the building the Kroot were lurking behind and the Priest moved up to keep them and the Heavy bolter within his Blood Chalice bubble. With movement kept at a minimal the shooting began.
First up were the missile launchers, all 4 let rip across the board with frag missiles against the edge of the Kroot blob, when the smoke cleared 5 hounds were sprawled  out dead. The Heavy Bolter barked out felling 2 Fire warriors in the squad opposite them.
Thus ended Turn 1.

Stay Tuned for more later :)

Wednesday 19 January 2011

Lets start small.

Right, just a quick update.

I've ordered parts to get everything up to scratch, 3 flying bases for the Landspeeders, a power sword for the Assault Squad Sergeant, a 25mm base for the guy without one and last but not least, 10 Jump Packs for the Assault Marines since they don't have any (who wants foot slogging Assault Marines?)

P.S. Passed my willpower roll so I didn't buy a Baal Predator or Land Raider Crusader :)

Here we go.

I had best get some pictures of this rabble up.

Bear in mind that I got everything pre-assembled and "painted" from Ebay.
The only work I have done is spray the Assault Squad red and then only 1 coat.
So with out further ado.

This is all the foot troops.
30 Marines with Bolters (1 missing base)
4 Marines with Flamers (1 damaged)
4 Marines with Missile Launchers (1 Damaged)
2 Marines with Heavy Bolters.
10 Assault Marines (2 Damaged)
8 Terminators.
1 Terminator with Heavy Flamer.
1 Terminator with Cyclone Launcher.
1 Captain with Thunder Hammer and Jump Pack.
1 Big green mug full of nice and hot Tea, 2 sugars thanks.

Here is El Capitan up close. Custom build, got him from various Bitz sites, not so keen on his helmet after m last match, the bugger drew blood :(

Here with have the 3 Landspeeders all 3 are missing the flying bases and weapons.

Last but not least, an old style Predator, counts as a fast vehicle for Blood Angles, Nice.

1st!!

1st post!

Yea okay, I fail.

Still here we go, I'm popping my blogging cherry and what better way to do that than something nice and geeky :) Yep, it's a Warhammer blog.

I thought I would try and get some incentive to get cracking with my Blood Angels since I have had them about 9 months and not painted any, in fact I only just finished gluing my Captain together.

I got everything off Ebay, except for my Captain I got him from a few different Bitz sites.

My plan is as follows:
1st. Paint at least One model a week and post about it.
2nd. Play more matches, take photo's and post about it.
3rd. Have lots of that thing people call fun (anyone know where I can buy that?)

Hope you enjoy watching me massacre all my hard earned pennies.
